Reading Lesson

The I in the poem
is the eye
of beauty and terror,
loneliness and regret,
hope and wonder.
It is not simply my eye.
If you cannot
come to understand
this distinction
you will never learn
how to read
with your heart.

  1. This is the perfect companion piece to "Locking the Garage." Both capture point so well...good poetry always involves the "eye." And these are two good poems.
